He thought it was from Fedex...

It was a Tuesday morning.

Mark was rushing to get out the door for a client meeting.

His phone buzzed with an email notification.

FedEx. A package delay. Click here to reschedule delivery.

He clicked it without thinking.

Nothing happened. Page didn't load. He figured his signal was bad and forgot about it.

That afternoon his bookkeeper called.

She couldn't log into QuickBooks.

By the time Mark got back to his office his server was locked.

Every file. Every client record. Every invoice going back six years.

Gone.

The ransom note on his screen asked for $15,000 in Bitcoin.

He didn't have cyber insurance.

He didn't have a backup that worked.

He didn't have an IT person - just a friend who was "good with computers."

That one click cost him three weeks of downtime and nearly cost him his business.

The scary part?

The email looked exactly like a real FedEx notification.

Same logo. Same colors. Same format.

The only difference was the sender's address - and most people never check that.

This happens to small businesses every single day.

Not just big companies. Not just banks.

The shop down the street. The two-person accounting firm. The contractor with five

employees.

Anyone with a computer and a bad day.
